The Carpenter House believes in a holistic approach to strengthening communities. We know that a good job is a key driver for upward mobility, and as of June 2015 we are proud to announce a partnership with Baltimore City Public Schools to hire and train 75 Independent Education Plan (IEP) Aides, a career that not only provides stability but makes a meaningful impact in our community. The IEP Aides will provide instructional and personal care services for students with Independent Education Plans in special education classrooms throughout Baltimore City Public Schools.

In addition to sourcing applicants, The Carpenter House will take each new hire through twenty hours of training including behavior management strategies, review of classroom procedures, and certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention.

Interested in Applying?

Aides must have at minimum a high school diploma or GED. Additional education may be required in some circumstances. Aides must be able to speak, read, write, and understand Standard English and carre out directions and instructions by the student’s teacher and/or principal. Bi-lingual aides may be requested. Applicants must demonstrate emotional and mental maturity as well as display an interest and a sympathetic attitude toward working with children.

Applicants must be able to provide satisfactory work references and two satisfactory personal reference. A satisfactory job related experience can be substituted for work references.
